Sangeeta Sandrasegar
In the three months she spent in Prato, Sangeeta Sandrasegar took her exploration of colour manufacture and the histories of cultural exchange, trade and technology in an innovative direction, locating her work firmly in the Prato area.
Sangeeta participated in the educational offering of courses at the campus, guest lecturing for “Creative methods at the intersections of science and art”, where she talked about her practice and shared her expertise on the creation of natural dying colours with students and academics.
In the Prato area, Sangeeta made contact and established artist-industry links with companies located nearby, most notably Lottozero and Beste. At Beste, she built a strong and fruitful relationship, leading the company to donate fabric of their own production, which would inform her future work. The result will be presented as a solo exhibition at the Niagara Galleries in August 2025, and an installation within Fed Square's Atrium (commissioned by Fed Square and supported by the Australian Tapestry Workshop), thanks to the donation by Beste.
