Reflections from and for Prato: Chinese economic and social integration around the world

The main aim of these symposia is to feature academic work and local Prato initiatives on the economic and social integration of the Chinese in Prato. Postgraduate and early career researchers are encouraged to participate. A publication outcome is planned.

 

This international conference brings together the foremost authorities on Chinese migration in the major countries of Chinese settlement around the world. The conference aims to compare and contrast models of integration including Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, and the US. A major outcome of the conference will be an edited volume which responds to the theme: Reflections from and for Prato: Chinese economic and social integration around the world.

These events are a feature of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Monash University Prato Centre (2001-2011). The idea for these events grew out of the Monash University Prato Centre’s history of migration-related conferences and activities, its commitment to local engagement in Prato and its history of research on the Chinese in Prato.
